The material of non-drying label was discovered by R• Stan Avery, an American, in the thirties of 20th century. The label was made by hand firstly, and later, Mr. Avery discovered the first coating machine and label production equipment, and began the mechanized production.

The non-drying adhesive material is a titanic challenge for traditional label material, which is a revolution in label field. Since the thirties of 20th century, the technology of non-drying adhesive material began to spread all over the world. Some countries followed to build factories, research and develop kinds of label materials. The development history of non-drying adhesive material is also that of scientific technology in this century. At present, the basic current status of non-drying adhesive material in the world is as follows:

1. Fabric
It mainly focuses on paper and develops various materials and special uses, such as synthetic material, anti-counterfeiting material and transfer material, etc.

2. Adhesive
It develops from the solvent-type and hot melt adhesive, which pollutes environment, to the environmental-friendly water-borne emulsion.

3. Coating technology
There are many coating methods, and at the present, it aims to develop from the traditional roll coating and blade coating to the high-pressure cast coating, which maximally ensures the coating evenness, avoids bladder and pinprick, and guarantees the coating quality.

The non-drying label, also named as self-adhesive label, prompt paste, and pressure-sensitive label, etc, takes paper, foil, or specialty material as the fabric, and is applied with adhesive in the back, which is a composite material adopting the silicone-coated protective paper as the bottom paper, and become the finished product label after processed by printing and mould-cutting, etc. When use it, slightly press it to remove the bottom paper and it could be stuck to surface of various materials, or automatically label on production line by labeling machine.

Comparing with the traditional label, the non-drying label is environment-friendly and does not need glue-brushing, paste and water dipping, which could save labeling time and be rapidly applied to kinds of occasions, for example, it could be applied to different fabrics, adhesives and bottom paper, and be processed to various labels, and also could be applied to material that is unserviceable to common paper. We can say that the non-drying label is an all-purpose label.
